It’s been a fun journey – an odyssey I never would have realized if I hadn’t been naïvely ambitious enough to purchase my $2.99 domain and build a do-it-yourself, drag and drop website about millennial entrepreneurship.
But the past five years have brought many changes to my life, including some “beyond my wildest dreams” opportunities to use my online presence as an advocate, book speaking gigs, and even teach Entrepreneurship at the collegiate level. It’s been exciting (and terrifying) to explore the world a few tweets and posts can unveil.
Like many American millennials are currently experiencing, economic changes have (finally) begun turn in my favor. Instead of waiting tables and mowing grass (along with half a dozen other odd jobs and side hustles) to make ends meet, my professional pursuits garner much more appealing and lucrative events.
For those of you that read my first “official” publication: No – I am no longer dumpster diving to score shipping packages for my online store. Ah, the Great Recession…
As my life moves in a new direction, it’s only fitting that my beloved blog shares in this Second Coming of sorts. Instead of focusing content solely on entrepreneurship, we’re expanding to include a wider variety of millennial career and lifestyle value through The Motivated Millennial’s digital channels.
Yes, loyal readers, we will still include the beloved Millennial Spotlights and tried and true business tips; but we’ll also be offering regular commentary and resource on the following:
So bear with me, over the next few weeks, as I juggle a site revamp, along with an exciting move, and more higher education. My goal is to update the current site into a super user-friendly blog with a library of downloable resources for today’s millennial professional. I’m realizing my current web provider (Weebly) doesn’t offer the plug-in capabilities I envisioned, so a transfer may be in order (if you’ve been there and done that, please send positive vibes my way).
We will still offer access to the MPR Academy (click here to join the waitlist) twice a year, along with the Member-Only Network and the collaborative MPR Mastermind (it’s FREE to join!). Additionally, our developed library of eBooks, checklists, and planners will still be available to purchase, and our Guest Contributor program will continue.
Perusing the site’s backend, filled will “historic” page relics to the original days of #MotivatedGenY digital, I am reminded just how far we – as a millennial generation – have come, and inspired by how far will we continue to go.
Dozens of the “Motivated Millennials” we’ve spotlighted on the blog have gone on to become bestselling authors, major media personalities, Forbes Contributors, political players, and so much more.
Yes, the Recession (seemingly) kicked our a$$; yes, there were years when we though our education was all in vain; yes, we were forced to take big leaps and assume great risk to keep our families afloat; yet, today, we’re not only still here, but we’re leading the change our world needs to see…one blog/tweet/[insert:your fav media option] at a time.
