Give us your “elevator pitch” (What you do, who you are, where you’re from).
I’m the CEO & Founder of Workable Wealth, a technology based financial planning company that works with GenYers across the country to help them make smart choices with their money. I’m work as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and money coach and run my business from San Diego, CA.
Who’s your hero?
The men and women who serve our country and their families. There is so much sacrifice from this group in order for us to enjoy the freedoms we experience daily. I’m in awe of so many of them and lucky to call a handful of them my friends.
When feeling stressed or overwhelmed, what do you do to unwind and refocus?
Take a walk, talk to my husband, mom or best friend, do some yoga or get a massage.
What’s your favorite book?
The whole Harry Potter series. Loved every page of those books.
Describe the biggest risk you’ve ever taken. How did it work out?
Starting my own business before the age of 30 was the biggest risk I’ve ever taken on. It’s been scary and quite the roller coaster ride, but it’s been so amazing and humbling to be able to work with clients across the country and take the message the need for more focus on this generation from the financial services industry into the public eye.
What’s your favorite quote?
If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives. ~ Lemony Snicket
This quote is what inspires me to take action even when the fear sets in and I have questions. It gets me to press on.
Describe your dream vacation.
I don’t know if this is actually a vacation, but my dream is to pack up and move to Italy for a minimum of six months. My family background is full Italian and while I’ve visited on trips, I’ve never been able to fully immerse myself in the culture and live as the locals do. It’s my dream to run my business 100% virtually (which I’m pretty close to doing), and I’d love the opportunity to rent a studio, travel the country side, visit museums, practice my Italian and end each night with a glass of wine at a little café tucked away on a cobble stoned street somewhere. (Clearly I’ve thought about this). J
Where do you see yourself in 25 years?
Yikes. 25?! Still happily married with kids that have graduated from college, a steady stream of passive income, a thriving financial planning business that is still working with GenYers from across the country, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally whenever the desire strikes.
What’s currently on your radar?
Tell us about your latest project. I’m so excited about my Newlywed Money Bootcamp! I’ve had a lot of young couples reach out to me who haven’t quite been ready for one-on-one financial planning, but who have needed a place to start in creating a household budget, merging finances, getting comfortable talking about money, etc. I launched the Newlywed Money Bootcamp at the end of last year as a 6 week e-course and I’m currently running discounted pricing of $147 for it through April 30th.
Any advice for recent college grads?
Understand where your money is going as early as possible and don’t rely on credit cards to get you by. Create a spending plan in place and start saving for your goals like travel, debt pay down, a new home or car and more. Having a plan in place will give you clarity and confidence in your financial life and it will flow into other areas as well. Just get started with one baby step in getting financially organized and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
